Geometric

17 June 2014

Top via Runway Scout | By Johnny skirt | Tony Bianco heels | Mimco clutch | Forever New necklace | Samantha Wills bracelet

This skirt is definitely a favourite from last year. By Johnny makes the most amazing printed mini skirts and this one ticks all the boxes when it comes to geometric patterns. I love the simple yet colourful print of this skirt. It's incredibly easy to style and you'll be surprised how many things go with it. I've styled it here in a simple, elegant way for a classy night time look, but pairing it with colours can make the outfit more fun and vibrant too. Get creative with colourful prints. Try adding in other colours, textures or cuts (like I've done with this crop top) to keep the look interesting.

Tips & Trends: Leopard Print Bags

29 April 2014

Diane Von Furstenberg | Dolce & Gabbana | Roberto Cavalli | Thalé Blanc

So leopard print bags are probably one of my favourite things at the moment, aside from anything pastel or floral printed. Above are some high end bags I've seen a lot of bloggers and celebs wearing. To be honest though, for how much they set you back financially, I'm not overly impressed. So, I've included some leopard prints bags at much cheaper prices below that I think are way nicer than any designer bags going around right now, plus they won't break the bank.

As the monochrome trend is bigger than ever at the moment, leopard print bags are a great way to add some subtle colour and print into predominantly black outfits. It will give it the pop of colour it needs, but could also be worn with other colours too such as white, cream, brown and even brighter colours like orange too.

Silver Details

22 April 2014

Paige Denim jeans | Sheike bustier top | Kurt Geiger  heels | Forever New bag | Dogeared necklace | Dogeared bracelet | Dogeared rings

It's no secret that I love an accessory and thanks to Dogeared, I now have some super sweet silver jewellery to add the perfect detail to any outfit. I've been wearing a lot of gold lately, but this collaboration has helped renew my once undoubted allegiance to silver. This necklace is actually longer than it appears in these photos; it's supposed to drop down to sit somewhere on your stomach but I decided to wrap it around my neck instead to make it shorter. I love playing around with clothes and accessories and styling them in ways that are a bit different to normal. It's a fun and creative way to get more wear out of items, plus it also adds a nice personal touch!

My new accessories are the perfect complement to the silver zipper details in my outfit. Not only are these jeans amazing to look at, but they're ultra skinny (super slimming) and made from the softest, stretchiest, most comfortable denim. My heels have zips too! I bought them last year and they're still on high rotation. White heels give a feminine edge to just about any outfit. Combined with this blush bustier top, girly pieces like these balance out the masculinity of  black jeans.

Tips & Trends: How To Nail Stripes

17 April 2014

Stripes are literally the easiest thing you could ever wear. They go with almost everything and they will never, ever, ever, ever go out of fashion...EVER. It's not hard to wear stripes. The hardest part is more likely trying to find your size (why does striped clothing always sell out so fast!). So instead of showing you how to wear stripes, here's a little compilation of some of my favourites for some autumn inspiration.

Little Striped Dress

11 April 2014

Bec & Bridge dress | Siren heels | Forever New clutch (similar here) | Samantha Wills bracelet | Forever New earrings

Move over little black dress, the little striped dress has taken over. One can never own too many stripes and I'm discovering this more and more as my stripe collection expands. Until recently, it only included tees but this cute skater style dress was definitely a much needed addition. Stripes are massive this season and they're a great way to rock the monochrome trend. The best thing about a striped dress is its versatility and the fact that it can be worn day or night. I've worn this dress so many times since I bought it and it's safe to say this is one of my favourite purchases.

Moral of the story:  1. You can't go wrong with stripes.
                                 2. Buy a little striped dress and wear it to your heart's content.

Leopard Love

2 March 2014

Nasty Gal leopard print skirt | Minkpink chiffon back cami (similar here) | Giuseppe Zanotti animal print and suede heels | Samantha Wills necklace (similar here) | Dogeared rings

I am a sucker for leopard print. Something about it always catches my attention. It's probably because it's one of the easiest prints to incorporate into an outfit. Leopard print can be added subtly or worn much more boldly. I prefer to wear it in more subtle ways but nevertheless there will always be a place in my wardrobe for this beloved print.

I'm loving flippy/trumpets skirts at the moment and I love this one in particular because it's not black or an all over colour such as the red, blue, green, pink and many other coloured versions that are currently doing the rounds when it comes to this trend. I don't normally mix prints but I think the leopard in the skirt and the cow print on the shoes actually look really good together!

This is only a relatively cheap outfit but I think these Giuseppe Zanotti shoes (my faves) add so much more to it. As a shoe lover, I am always happy to welcome designer shoes into my life. But while I don't go out and splurge on expensive shoes very often, they have an undeniable ability to make everyday outfits automatically chic (see above).

Miss Monochrome

22 February 2014

Hunt No More top | Zara skirt (similar here) | Tony Bianco heels (in suede here) | Spiked bracelet (similar here) | Earrings (similar here)

I thought I'd take a break from the cold winter here in Germany to express my love for the current monochrome trend. Colour has taken a bit of a backseat lately and black and white can be seen dominating the runways and streets. The best thing about monochrome is its versatility. There are so many ways to wear it including stripes, spots or in block colours.

I took these photos before I left and boy am I missing summer back home. This is a super simple way to wear monochrome and the combination of black and white is as timeless as it is flattering. I love wearing black, so the black mini skirt and heels were a must. The white trim on this crop top then gave this outfit the perfect contrast and mono effect it needed.

Only two more days until I fly home. As much as I'm loving being away, I'm also quite excited to be home. I'm mostly excited to see my boyfriend, sleep in my own bed and hopefully devour a whole bowl of vegetables (after being deprived for two weeks). Until then I've got a couple more days to soak up the experience and enjoy the rest of my time overseas!

Singlet Dress

3 February 2014

This has to be one of my favourite dresses (hence why I own it in two different colours!). I love the relaxed yet flattering fit and that it can be worn in so many different ways. I thought I'd include photos of both my white and black singlet dresses to show the different ways that I styled them.

The black dress is definitely more of a night time dress for me. I wear a lot of black, especially at night and it looks amazing paired with elegant accessories. I decided to see what a belt would look like with it and turns out it was the perfect way to create a more dressed up look. I've also worn it without a belt too and the dress still looks great on its own.

The white dress is something I would probably wear more during the day or for a more casual occasion at night. I like it best paired with black heels and everyday silver jewellery but the white version would also be great with a pop of colour either in the shoes or some coloured accessories.

These dresses can pretty much be styled in any way possible which makes them so versatile and fun to play around with plus they are SO comfortable!

Catara

30 January 2014

Meet my precious catara mini skirt by one of my favourite Australian labels Aje. I bought this skirt in ivory a few years ago so when it came out in black I just had to get my hands on it. These sequin beauties sell out so quickly though and initially they sold out of my size. Imagine my delight when I discovered they restocked it in black! That prized skirt was in my shopping cart quicker than you can say sequin.

The catara mini will take you anywhere from an elegant dinner to a night out on the town (reputation intact). The designers at Aje aim for an aesthetic in which statement pieces are paired back with basic tops and tees to create effortless glamour, tough femininity and disheveled elegance. As I'm not much of tee girl, I prefer to go for a more super glam look and pair my sequinned treasure with a top of equal statement.

Sheike hit the nail on the head with this fitted bustier. It's so detailed but seems sophisticated and simple at the same time. The belt is my favourite part of the top but I also love the gentle flared waist peplum too. This outfit goes to show that pairing two statement pieces together can work and it's also a great way to keep an all over sequin skirt classy.

What's up with Sydney's bipolar weather lately?! I realise we're in between seasons but it makes getting dressed in the morning so frustrating! I never know what to wear.

However...leather shorts = problem solved! These babies are seriously my life saver! They're the perfect on trend staple for this time of year. Great for keeping cool in warmer weather and warm in cooler weather. They're also extremely versatile and can be worn with practically anything!

I've decided to take on the challenge of wearing my leather shorts 5 different ways in 5 days to show you what a great investment piece they are!
